Our cousin Derek has Dravet Syndrome (a form of childhood epilepsy for which Dravet.org is looking for a cure). We want to help Derek, his family, and others worldwide who suffer or know someone who suffers from Dravet Syndrome. Many of our friends are helping us to make it fun and successful! We hope you enjoy it, and hope to raise lots of support for Dravet.org.
The Third Annual Derek’s Dash will take place on August 28, 2011 at 10:00 am at Village Greens Park in Greenwood Village, Colorado. The event includes a 5K walk/run and silent auction. This year our goal is to raise $55,000 to continue to fund research with the IDEA League in honor of Derek. We welcome anyone and everyone to walk, run, or donate!
The money raised from this race will go to the Dravet.org, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization (and formerly known as the Idea League), founded by parents of children with Dravet Syndrome to promote research and education for the early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and cure of Dravet Syndrome and related epilepsies. The mission of dravet.org is to serve as the foremost global patient advocate organization giving support to families, saving the lives of our children, promoting and funding medical research to find effective treatments and cures for Dravet syndrome and Dravet Spectrum Disorders.
